All 3 detained members of the Performance Art group Pussy Riot start hunger strike! Maria Alekhine speaks in the courtroom from PublicPost:
Judge Konovalova at Tagansky District Court today has ruled in the favor of Prosecutor Sam Kharkiv and Investigator Michael Kharkov to restricted the Pussy Riot Defense Team access to the Investigators report

The authorities have given the Defense Team only until July 9 to complete the reading of the 7 volumes, totaling approximately 2800 pages (plus evidence, including videotapes and timing of tens of hours) report presented by the Investigator. A report that can only be read in the police station.

This is in violation of the European Convention on Human Rights and Article 47 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (« The accused has the right to know what he is charged »), READ MOREthe girls and their lawyers have provided to get acquainted with the family of a criminal case volumes (2800 pages), only one month (from June 8 to July 8). The simple math says that during this period was only 21 working days, and, therefore, 147 hours (in the detention center to familiarize with the case occurs only on weekdays and 7 hours per day). So, it turns out that six people (Tolokonnikova, Alekhine,  Samutsevich and their three lawyer) both studied the single instance of criminal cases from 2800 pages in the course of 147 hours. Leaves 3 minutes per page. And as with every page introduces six people at a time, then each of them to get to 30 seconds to study the list of criminal cases.

The belief is the authorities want to end the case quickly to stem the recent upswing in popular outcry and send the women off to prison camps.

The trial of Pussy Riot in fact be held in Moscow’s Khamovnichesky Court and there is information that Judge Danilkin will lead the process. The actual trial will last up to 3 weeks and is expected to start in late July.

Due to the length of the Investigators Report the Defense feels it needs more time to prepare for the case and has asked to have the actual trial start in September and the women out on bail. This was not conceded to them.

Also Expecting for this week:
-Word from the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg on whether they hold a hearing on Pussy Riot’s state, and how soon.
